This hermitage, dedicated to Our Lady of Orada, was built in the 15th century although the current temple dates from the 18th century. The 15th century image of the Patron Saint is located in the Matriz de Albufeira Church. Every year on the 15th of August the fishermen pay a tribute to Our Lady in a procession that carries the image back to her original church. It should be noted that the hermitage was built in a straight line with a church in the north of the country, in Melgaço, dedicated to the Holy Virgin. These two extreme points mark the longest north-south distance in Portugal. Both had similar worship ceremonies and commemorations on the same day.
